Don't you just love it when you rediscover a product that you once loved? It's kind of like fitting back into those jeans that were once a little too snug. It takes you back, and it can propell you forward. It's just magical feeling. Kind of like finding a little cash in your jeans after you wash them. "Yippie, I rediscovered my dollar! Jackpot!"
Well, I just had this rediscovery with Maybelline's Lash Discovery mascara. It's an oldie but a goodie. The only thing is I've modernized my use of it a bit. The beauty of this mascara is in the wand. It's teeny tiny, waif-like, and super slim. It's the Kate Moss of mascara wands. It separates, it gets into the inner corner of your eyes, cleany swipping mascara on these forgotten lashes and making your eyes looks fully framed from corner to corner with luscious black fan-like lashes. Plus, it's the answer to any girl's prayers when it comes to those bottom lashes. I've mentioned before that I have longish lashes, and my bottom lashes are no exception. Sadly, because of this, when I apply mascara to my lower lashes, I sometimes end up getting it smudged under my eyes, which is why I always have Q-tips on the ready. The wands have simply been too big to coat these bottom lashes without accidentally smudging onto my skin. Ahhhh, the trials of the long-lashed lady. Well, this little wand is just small and delicate enough to coat my lashes, emphasize their length (and presence), and not smudge onto my skin.
Unfortunately, while it does all of this, it does not thicken your lashes. So, I like to use it in combination with my L'Oreal Volumnious Carbon Black mascara. I simply apply my Lash Discovery to my inner corners and bottom lashes, and then apply my Voluminous mascara as normal, this time, not having to try to get those hard-to-reach lashes. Don't worry, it's not as time consuming as it sounds, but it makes a huge difference in the appearance of my lashes. And you know how a full, long, dark set of lashes can do wonders for your overall appearnce.
So, if you haven't tried this mascara out, or if you've long forgotten it for the newer mascara formulas out there, give it a shot. It won't break the bank. I got mine at Target for only $5.94 (before my $1 off coupon - there are monthly Maybelline mascara coupons in the Sunday paper). Combine that with my $5 L'Oreal mascara and that's only $10, way less than a high-end brand, and that's not even counting the fact that L'Oreal also puts out monthly coupons for their products. So really, with each $1 off coupon, my combo of mascara's only really cost me about $8-9. Steal!
Have you all tried Maybelline's Lash Discovery? Are you as big a fan as I am? Have you tried it only by itself, or combined it's lash discovery power with your favorite mascara? What has your experience been?
