Alright, if you've seen my YouTube video, then you know I'm crazy about my Maybelline Define-a-Brow eyebrow pencils. They are absolutely fantastic. If you haven't seen the video (above), then let me quickly bring you up to speed.
I discovered these watching Julieg713 on YouTube, who said that they are comparable to MAC's Eye Brows pencil ($15). Wanting to find a good product without spending a lot of money and trusting her opinion, I picked up Maybelline's Define-a-Brow on a shopping trip in my local Bed, Bath & Beyond (my store has a beauty section). Actually, I picked up two, the dark brown and light brown shade, so that I could pencil in my brows and give them dimension by using two different shades. Also, when I'm lazy and just want to use one color, I can use the light brown for day and the dark brown for night.
But, here is why I like this brow pencil so much:
- It has a thin tip, which makes for easy application (you can just feather it on) and helps you avoid the dreaded overly-thick eyebrow look... or as I refer to it (at least when I accidentally do it) caterpillar brows
- No need to sharpen, you just twist the wand to expose more of the pencil (much like a twist pen)
- The dark brown doesn't really have red undertones, which works nicely with my dark hair
- The product glides on easily and stays put throughout the day
- It's inexpensive, $5.54 at Target, I believe it was $5.79 at Bed, Bath & Beyond --I used one of my 20% off coupons so I paid a smidge less, and you can also find Maybelline coupons in the Sunday newspaper
Since starting to use the Define-a-brow, combined with my recent purchase of my very own brow scissors I think I'm getting much better at it. First, I can extend my visits between waxing, which I like to do for shaping. I can trim my brow hairs, I have a few unruly ones that like to grow long, and even one that curls! (not cute). The new brow pencils help me fill in the small areas where I need to thanks to the thin tip. All in all, I'm rather happy. Good pigmentation pay off. Long-lasting effects. A natural finish. Wallet-friendly price. What more can I ask for?
Have you tried Maybelline's Define-a-Brow? How do you like the results?

My brows are super dark but sometimes I lose a bit of hair in them. This would be perfect for that!
ReplyDeleteSo is it discontinued or not? I heard it was. =c(
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard anything about that. It would really stink if they were. I really like this product. I've repurchased several times.
DeleteWah! It looks like you were right! I've noticed that supplies are dwindling at most places. I don't have any actual confirmation on this, but it appears to be so. I saw it on clearance at Target. What a sad day. I think they are replacing it with the Master Shape Brow Pencil. How disappointing. I'll have to check and see how the Master Shape compares.
