Warm weather is here and it's time to change up some of your beauty routine. The stuff that worked wonders for you when it was a little cooler out likely can't stand up to the heat and humidity. Living in Florida, where it's hot and humid most of the year, I feel like I've gotten a lot of practice choosing products that are warm-weather friendly.

I bet you're all probably wearing a lot less clothing, which means exposing a lot more skin. And lot's of you are probably spending a lot more time in the sun hoping to develop a nice tan to accompany your short shorts. But let me tell you, there's not need to expose your skin to the harmful effects of the sun just to gain a little color. You can get a great tan from a bottle these days and my two favorite brands (St. Tropez and Sun Laboratories) can give you a deep, dark, natural-looking tan without the future skin damage.

While we're chatting about tans, let's discuss some great alternatives to help you protect your skin. Australian Gold makes sunscreen that has bronzer in it to help you fake a great glow while you hang out with your friends and family at the beach or by the pool. It'll give you great color, but it won't be quite as dark as Jergens, St. Tropez, or Sun Labs. On the plus side, you won't look quite so pale while you lounge on the sand and you won't go home with a blistering sunburn.

Don't forget to protect your lips, hair, and scalp while you're out frolicking in the sun. If you're not keen on wearing a hat, spritz on some of Aveda's sun care hair veil. It's light weight, smells beachy, and will keep you from burning your scalp while protecting your hair color from fading in the sun. For lips, I'm keen on Nivea's Kiss of Recovery balm because it protects with SPF 15, moisturizes amazingly and feels buttery on your lips. It may not have a fun food-like scent, but unlike it's sister Kiss of Protection, it doesn't taste like you're eating a bottle of sunblock.

You're skin care and makeup routines will need an overhaul too now that it's hot as can be outside. Who really wants to pack on lots of products only to have them melt off and clog pores? Consider swapping out your foundation, moisturizer, and facial sunscreen for one product: Smashbox's CC cream. It offers amazing coverage, looks like skin, moisturizes, protects, corrects uneven skin tone, and controls oil. I've worn this to the beach and it held up like a charm. Imagine how it will perform on an everyday basis. (Check out my full review here) And if you're not into wearing any kind of makeup to the beach, consider checking out Neutrogena's Clear Face liquid lotion sunscreen. It's oil free, keeps your skin matte all day, and comes in a variety of SPF levels. I'm personally partial to the SPF 30 and I like using this as my daily SPF too (if I'm not wearing my CC Cream).

Let's not neglect the rest of our body while we're overhauling our beauty products. Your skin still needs moisture, but who likes the feeling of lotion oozing from your pores when you start to sweat? You know the feeling: your moisturizer had already absorbed into your skin and then you start to sweat and suddenly you're extra slick. Vaseline's Spray & Go moisturizer helps solve this problem. It absorbs quickly while giving your skin the moisture it needs without the weight. Check out my full review here.
